Incredibly overrated movie (On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 88% approval rating based on 117 reviews, with an average score of 8/10) While anticipating a movie like La Pianiste( with an amazing Huppert)this movie turned out to be the biggest movie disappointment of 2016 for me. Directed by Paul Verhoeven. Elle review: Paul Verhoeven's brazen rape revenge comedy is a dangerous delight 5 / 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars. With Isabelle Huppert, Laurent Lafitte, Anne Consigny, Charles Berling. Elle is a dissertation on power dynamics. A successful businesswoman gets caught up in a game of cat and mouse as she tracks down the unknown man who raped her.
In fact Elle is only the second movie of Verhoeven's since 2000's Hollow Man. Elle movie reviews & Metacritic score: Michèle seems indestructible. Perhaps only Paul Verhoeven would open a film mid-rape—the violent attack observed by an unimpressed green-eyed cat—and then follow up with a scene where Michèle, the rape victim, face puffy from the beating, picks up a phone and orders takeout, asking questions about the "holiday roll."

Movie Review: ‘Elle’ The Times critic A. O. Scott reviews “Elle.” In “Elle” a woman tries to find the identity of the man who sexually assaulted her. Pour elle (Anything for Her) Critics Consensus. She's not blasé about what happened. Head of a successful video game company, she brings the same ruthless attitude … This taut and snappy French prison break thriller may be suspiciously implausible, but is held together by two fine central performances.
